Terry Lynn Morrow, 56, of Troy and Baring, Missouri, passed away Friday, April 5, 2013 while working around his cabin at the Baring Lake.
Terry was born on September 10, 1956, in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Elvin R. and Ida Mae Snell Morrow.
He attended the Knox City Elementary and graduated from the Knox County High School in the class of 1974. Terry graduated from the Northeast Missouri State University, also Truman State in Kirksville, Missouri, with a Bachelors, Masters, and Specialist degrees in Education and recently completed his Doctorate in Education from Maryville University in St. Louis, Missouri.
Terry started his teaching career in Clark County Schools in Kahoka, Missouri, before moving on to Knox County Schools in Edina, Missouri. He then served as Junior High and High School Principal at Adair County Schools in Brashear, Missouri, North Shelby High School near Shelbyville, Missouri, and Green City High School. At Green City, Missouri he was promoted to Superintendent by the Sullivan County School Board. Terry went on to serve as Superintendent at Wright City School District in Wright City, Missouri and retired from the Lincoln County School District at Troy, Missouri, after 33 years of service in Education for the State of Missouri.
Education was Terry’s passion, he especially loved teaching in the classroom and mentoring young school administrators. He retired in June of 2011 and was never one to sit idle; he immediately joined L. J. Hart and Company of Chesterfield, Missouri, where he worked until his death.
Terry is survived by his wife, Lisa Morrow of Troy, Missouri; a sister, Linda Banks of Edina, Missouri; a brother-in-law, Mark and his wife Judy Bruegenhemke of Kirksville, Missouri and her children, Shawn and Hilarie Simpson of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Scott Simpson of Virginia Beach, Virginia; father and mother-in-law, Donald and Alice Bruegenhemke of Baring, Missouri; sister-in-law, Marilyn and her husband Leroy Cardwell of Novelty, Missouri; nieces and nephews, Gary and Mary Ann Banks of Columbia, Illinois, Brian and Wynona Banks of Edina, Missouri, Dena and James Wilt of Macon, Missouri, Jeff and Diane Morrow of Edina, Missouri. Also a special sister-in-law, Kathleen Bruegenhemke and her children, Kaitlin, Drew and Allie all of Columbia, Missouri; along with a host of friends and colleagues.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Elvin and Ida Mae Morrow; a brother, Elvin Ray Morrow on April 19, 1988; and a brother-in-law, Brian Bruegenhemke on November 4, 2003.
On June 4, 1988, in the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Baring, Missouri, Terry married Lisa Marie Bruegenhemke.
Terry loved the outdoors and hunting, he was always on the quest to find that trophy buck. Terry and Lisa also enjoyed getting away from it all on summer weekends and spending time on the water and at their cabin at the Baring Lake near Baring, Missouri.
A true sports enthusiast, he followed all sports but the St. Louis Cardinals were his team. Terry became a Cardinal fan as a young boy when he would sit in the car with his dad and listen to the games on the radio. His love of baseball continued throughout the years. Terry and Lisa greatly enjoyed their annual trip to Spring Training in Florida, to follow their Cardinals.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Baring, Missouri.
Visitation will be after 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 12, 2013, with the family receiving friends from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Burial will be in the St. Aloysius Cemetery in Baring, Missouri.
Fr. Joseph Hoi will officiate along with Deacon Ken Berry assisting. Music will be provided by Katie and Maggie Delaney and Jim and Kyle Clark.
Pallbearers will be Gary Banks, Brian Banks, Jeff Morrow, Drew Bruegenhemke, Bob Delaney and Todd Culbertson and Honorary Bearers made up of his fellow school administrators and colleagues.
