John David Huber


    John David Huber, 79, of Rural Memphis, Missouri, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018, at his residence north of Memphis, Missouri.

    John David was born on August 28, 1938, in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, the son of Phares and Lena Huber.

    On August 30, 1958, In Myerstown, Pennsylvania, he married Edna Z. Martin, and to this union fourteen children were born.

    John David and Edna left Pennsylvania and moved to Knox City, Missouri, in 1973, to farm and raise their family. Edna preceded him in death on December 10, 2007.

    He was a member of the Millport Mennonite Church, near Rutledge, Missouri and later the Meadow View Mennonite Church, north of Memphis, Missouri.

    On September 5, 2009, John David married Mary H. Martin at his home in rural Knox City, Missouri, and she survives at their residence north of Memphis, Missouri.

    He is also survived by his fourteen children, Lorraine Martin of Waterloo, New York, along with her special friend, Daniel Faus of Sunbury, Pennsylvania, Ruth (Mervin) Hoover of Rutledge, Missouri, Earl (Edith) Huber of Knox City, Missouri, Esther Mae (Edwin) Ramer of Gorin, Missouri, Kathryn (Glenn) Zimmerman of Arbela, Missouri, Susan (Jerry) High of Arbela, Missouri, Edna (Lloyd) Ramer of Rutledge, Missouri, Grace (Clifford) Martin of Edina, Missouri, Martha (Abraham) Zimmerman of Rutledge, Missouri, Elva (James) Hoover of Knox City, Missouri, Nancy, Elizabeth and Marian Huber of Knox City, Missouri, and Mary Ellen Huber of Memphis, Missouri; seven step-children, Nevin (Laura) Martin of Memphis, Missouri, Romaine (Vernon) Oberholtzer of Memphis, Missouri, Mary Joyce (Nathan) Zimmerman of Rutledge, Missouri, Lois (Earl) Oberholtzer of Wyaconda, Missouri, Earl Lamar (Eleanor) Martin of Memphis, Missouri, and Lucille Martin of Lititz, Pennsylvania; ninety-three grandchildren, forty-six step-grandchildren, one hundred thirty-three great grandchildren, thirteen step-great grandchildren; two brothers, Christian Huber of Manheim, Pennsylvania and Melvin (Edith) Huber of Myerstown, Pennsylvania; five sisters, Irma Martin of Rutledge, Missouri, Sara Ann (Paul) Weaver of Myerstown, Pennsylvania, Martha and Marian Huber of Terre Hill, Pennsylvania, and Laura (Enos) Showalter of South Wayne, Wisconsin; sisters-in-law, Anna Huber of New Holland, Pennsylvania, Emma Huber of Manheim, Pennsylvania, and Esther Huber of Rutledge, Missouri; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

    John David was preceded in death by his parents, Phares and Lena Huber; two grandchildren, Karla and Anthony Zimmerman; one great grandchild, Delilah Haldeman; one son-in-law, Walter Martin; three brothers, Lloyd, Phares, and Martin Huber; four sisters, Elva Huber, Esther Weaver, and Mary and Anna Huber in infancy.

    Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at the Millport Mennonite Church south of Rutledge, Missouri. Officiating will be Abner Oberholtzer, Carl Hoover, Luke Fox, Wilson Martin, and Glenn High.

    Visitation will be on Monday, May 7, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, May 8, 2018, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. all at the Hillcrest Mennonite Community Center south of Memphis, Missouri.

    Burial will be in the Millport Mennonite Cemetery, south of Rutledge, Missouri. Pall Bearers will be John David Hoover, Jonathan Ramer, Harlan Huber, Lamar Martin, John Earl Zimmerman, and Jacob Zimmerman.
