    Byron Fred Ewalt, 91, of Edina, Missouri, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2015, at his residence in Edina, Missouri.

    Byron was born on May 25, 1924, in rural Knox County, Missouri, the son of Fred and Nellie Rae House Ewalt.

    He attended Island Rural School northeast of Knox City, Missouri and graduated from the Knox City High School in the Class of 1942. He served his country, during World War II, in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant.

    Byron farmed until 1964 before starting a new vocation as a carpenter that he enjoyed until his retirement in March of 2002.

    On June 5, 1947, in La mesa, Texas, he married Eva Lena House and to this union two children were born. Eva preceded him in death in June 1958.

    On May 7, 1960, in Knox City, Missouri, Byron married Euvanah Vannaken and she preceded him in death on April 28, 2010.

    He was a lifelong resident of Knox County, a member of the Methodist Church but attended the Edina Christian Church, a sixty year member of the Knox City American Legion, and the Colony Masonic Lodge where he was awarded a fifty year pin.

    Byron is survived by a son, Lynn and his wife Beverly Ewalt of St. Peters, Missouri; daughter, Deanna and her husband Larry Hubbard of Cantril, Iowa; three brothers, Garland and his wife Betty Ewalt of Mesa, Arizona, Roy Lee and his wife Mary Lois Ewalt of Monmouth, Illinois, and Albert Earl Ewalt of Kahoka, Missouri; three sisters, Roberta Agee of Edina, Missouri, Jewel See of Colony, Missouri,  and Alice Ann and her husband Roger Gipson of Edina, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Barbara Ewalt of Edina, Missouri; a granddaughter, Sarah Ann Ewalt of St. Peters, Missouri; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Rae Ewalt, two wives, Eva Ewalt and Euvanah Ewalt; a daughter, Marsha Ann Ewalt; two brothers, John Arthur Ewalt and Charles William Ewalt; a sister, Carol Pemberton; three brothers-in-law, William “Bill” See, Ralph Agee, and Oscar Pemberton.

    Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.

    Visitation will be after 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 29, 2015, with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

    A Masonic Service will be conducted Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. by the Colony Masonic Lodge.

    Full Military Graveside Honors will be at the Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville, Missouri by Knox City American Legion Post.

    Pastor Mike Wilson and Dewayne Wellborn will officiate and music will be provided by Carol Hays and Brent Karhoff. Casket Bearers will be Mark Klocke, Mike Hays, Robert Hubble, Todd Goodwin, Cedric Boone and Jaston Boone.

    An expression of sympathy in memory of Byron Ewalt may be left to the Colony Masonic Lodge or the Knox City American Legion Post. A memorial may be left at or mailed to the Doss Funeral Home 208 N. 4th Street, Edina, Missouri 63537.
