    Maurine Elizabeth Myers, 84, of Edina, Missouri, passed away Friday morning, October 3, 2014 at the Knox County Nursing Home in Edina, Missouri.

    Maurine was born in Keokuk, Iowa, on January 5, 1930, the daughter of Dr. Charles B. and Lola Smith Myers.

    She was raised in the Memphis, Missouri community and graduated from the Memphis High School in the Class of 1947. Maurine moved to Edina, Missouri in 1950 when her dad worked for Dr. Hatfield, and has remained in the same house. Over the years she worked at the Glove Factory, did house work for Mrs. Beal, at Wider Opportunities, Green Thumb worker for the School for nearly 10 years, as a waitress for local restaurants, but never retired she volunteered at the Clothes Closet for a number of years.

    While living in Memphis she was a member of the Memphis United Methodist Church and transferred her membership to the Edina United Methodist Church. She was active most of her life with the United Methodist Women, almost never missed Sunday school, and could always be found singing her favorite hymns or participating in the choir, at church events.

    Maurine was also a member of the Matilda Chapter #411 Order of Eastern Star of Edina, Missouri, for more than 50 years.

    Maurine is survived by numerous cousins, her church family and friends from the community.

    She was preceded in death by her mother, Lola Myers in 1937 and her father, Dr. C.B. Myers in 1971.

    Funeral services, along with an Easter Star Service, will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 5, 2014, at the Edina United Methodist Church in Edina, Missouri.

    Visitation will be after12:00 noon on Sunday at the church.

    Burial will be in the Memphis Cemetery at Memphis, Missouri.

    Pastor Sam Smith will officiate and music will be provided by Carol Hays and Beth Schrage. Casket Bearers will be Billy Mallet, Jim Hamm, Danny Pulis, Billy Daloney, Bill Hays and Tim Schrage.

    An expression of sympathy in memory of Maurine Myers may be left to the Edina United Methodist Church or the Matilda Chapter #411 Order of the Easter Star. A memorial may be left at or mailed to the Doss Funeral Home 208 N. 4th Street, Edina, Missouri 63537.
