Dolores Ann “Dottie” Kriegshauser, 78, of Edina, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at the Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.
Dottie was born on October 19, 1935, in Hurdland, Missouri, the daughter of Bill and Cleta Henry Gonnerman.
She grew up in Hurdland, Missouri and attended the Hurdland Elementary and graduated from the Hurdland High School in the Class of 1953. Dottie continued her education at the Northeast Missouri State Teachers College, in Kirksville, Missouri, graduating in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. She returned to Knox County and taught at the Rule Rural School northeast of Edina, Missouri.
On February 26, 1957, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edina, Missouri, Dottie married Jerome Fredrick “Romie” Kriegshauser.
They owned and operated the Edina Tobacco Shop “Romies” in Edina, Missouri and retired in 1978. After retiring she continued to serve the community volunteering for blood drives, delivering meals for the Nutrition Site and helping others get to appointments around the area. She had many students that she tutored math and was always happy to allow neighborhood kids to use their pool.
She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edina, Missouri and had been a member of the Baring Country Club and Edina Country Club. She enjoyed gardening, playing golf with the Ladies but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Dottie is survived by her husband Romie Kriegshauser of Edina, Missouri; three daughters, Debbie and her husband Doug Perrigo of Novelty, Missouri, Libbie and her husband John Eise of Maryland Heights, Missouri, and Carol and her husband Tony Shahan of Wilmington, Delaware; two sisters, Anita and Gene Deckard of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, and Kay and Dr. Ed Transano of Ava, Missouri; three brothers, Curtis and Ann Gonnerman of Sandwich, Illinois, Henry and Dee Gonnerman of La Plata, Missouri and Richard and Kathy Gonnerman of Hurdland, Missouri; six grandchildren, Brad and Teresa Dixson of Thompson Station, Tennessee, Dani and Centron Felder of Rock Hill, Missouri, Amy Eise of Denver, Colorado, Daniel Eise of Maryland Heights, Missouri, Jessica Shahan, and Mackinsey Shahan both of Wilmington, Delaware; two great grandchildren, Jace Felder and Stella Dixson; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Cleta Gonnerman and a grandson, Brian Joseph Dixson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edina, Missouri.
Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2014, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri. A Christian Prayer Service will be at 7:00 p.m.
Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Edina, Missouri.
Father Joseph Hoi will officiate and music will be provided by Nancy Reardon and Jim and Kyle Clark. Pall Bearers will be Jeff Doss, Duane Fountain, Ted Hilgeford, Doug Kelly, David Bugh, Matt Kriegshauser.
