    Victor Merle “Vic” Shubert, 81 of Edina, Missouri, formerly of Hannibal, Missouri, passed away Friday, April 18, 2014, at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.

    Vic was born in Edina, Missouri on August 13, 1932, the son of Walter Jr.and Margaret Anne Coslett Shubert

    He was raised in Edina, Missouri and after graduating from the Edina High School, Vic served his country in the United States Navy. He served overseas in Japan in 1952 and was discharged in 1956. He was a member of the Hannibal American Legion Post #55.

    Vic enjoyed trucking and had driven locally for Kelly Lime and Rock, Marble Concrete as well as driving for himself and others from time to time. He moved to Palmyra  and then to Hannibal while working for Sharky Trucking, Gully Trucking and retired in 2000 from Leeser Trucking. This past year he returned to Edina, Missouri to be near family as his health failed.

    Vic is survived by two brothers, Francis “Frank” Shubert of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Jerry Shubert of Taylor, Missouri; two sisters, Janice and her husband Kim Smith of Edina, Missouri and Jane and her husband Lanny Bowen of Kirksville, Missouri; nieces and nephews,  Jerry and his wife Clara Nichols of Knox City, Missouri, Jamie Nichols of Edina, Missouri; Victoria and her husband Terry Sadler of Macon, Missouri, Donna Miller of Ocala, Florida, Jennifer and her husband Gary Bradley of Kirksville, Missouri, Cheryl and her husband Hermann Spilker of Bethel, Missouri, Jimmy Shubert of Edina, Missouri and Randy and his wife Pam Shubert of Roach, Missouri; Sharon Shubert of Edina, Missouri, Mike and his wife Amy Smith of LaPlata, Missouri, Mark and his wife Shellie Smith of Olathe, Kansas, Tina and her husband Carl Miller of Kirksville, Missouri, Joe Bauyan of Orlando, Florida, Patty Howes of Memphis, Missouri, Dennis and his wife Vickie Schroeder of Columbia, Missouri, Elaine Ferguson of Edina, Missouri, Elizabeth and her husband David Bradley of Palmyra, Missouri and Christina and her husband Tim Betz of Hamilton, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Lawrence Schroeder of Edina, Missouri; numerous great nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Margaret Shubert; brothers, James Ray Shubert in infancy, and Billy Calvin Shubert on May 17, 2012; sisters, Mary Louise Schroeder on January 19, 2009, and Irene Nichols on November 17, 2012; a brother-in-law, Dale Nichols on March 19, 2012; a sister–in-law, Libby Shubert on April 2, 2008.

    Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 21, 2014, at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.

    Visitation will be after 9:00 a.m. on Monday, with the family receiving friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home

    Military Graveside Honors will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 21, 2014, in the Grandview Memorial Park in Hannibal, Missouri. Hannibal American Legion Post #55 will provide those honors.

    An expression of sympathy in memory of Vic Shubert may be left to the Hannibal American Legion Post #55. A memorial may be left at or mailed to the Doss Funeral Home 208 N. 4th Street, Edina, Missouri 63537.
