    Thomas Dwain “Tommy” Swann, 77, of Quincy, Illinois, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013, at his residence in Quincy, Illinois.

    Tom was born on July 29, 1936, in Novelty, Missouri, the son of Charles Howard and Inez Lee Swann.

    He received his education in the Novelty Schools, graduating from the Novelty High School in the class of 1954.

    He served his country in the United State Army in 1956, stationed in Germany for two years. In 1958 Tom went to work for the Missouri Highway Department and in 1968 he began employment with Steve Nosser Ford, as a mechanic. In 1981 he went to work for the United States Postal Service as a mechanic.

    Tom enjoyed tinkering with old tractors and trucks and restored many different makes and models over the years. He was a member of the South Side Boat Club and the Triple Oaks Club both of Quincy, Illinois and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Fan.

    On October 10, 1979, Tom married Suzanne Carmichael Tipton in Quincy, Illinois, and they celebrated more than thirty four years together.

    He is survived by his wife, Sue of Quincy, Illinois; a daughter, Sonya Kay and her husband Tom Quaranto of Central City, Colorado; three step children, Terri Neisen and her husband Keith of Quincy, Illinois, Cindy Reed of Hamilton, Illinois, and Dan Tipton and his wife Carolyn of Quincy, Illinois; two brothers, Dr. James Swann of Springfield, Missouri, and Kenneth Swann of Hannibal, Missouri; three sisters, Evelyn Doss of Edina, Missouri, Pat Swann of Dallas, Texas, and Karen Miller of Knox City, Missouri; two grandchildren, Tommy and Molly Quaranto; and step grandchildren, Ben and Chad Neisen, Kayla and Bret Tipton, and Samantha and Ashley Reed; other relatives and friends.
    Along with his parents, Tom was preceded in death by four brothers, Richard, Dale, Jerry Lee and Don Lynn Swann; and a special aunt, Cora Mae Thompson.

    Graveside Services were Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Quincy, Illinois.
