     Amos M. Horst, age 65, of Rural Edina, Missouri, passed away Sunday, September 15, 2013, at his residence with family by his side.

    Amos Horst was born in Lancaster County Pennsylvania on December 6, 1947, the son of Amos H. Horst and Lena Martin Horst. 

    On August 2, 1969, he was united in marriage to Grace W. Martin and they had celebrated 44 years of marriage.

    In 1971, they moved from Pennsylvania to Missouri where he worked for the University of Missouri and they lived on the Lee Greenley Farm at Novelty, Missouri for three years.  They were the first Weaverland Conference Mennonites to live in Northeast Missouri. 

    Amos farmed 26 years on a farm South of Edina, Missouri where they raised their family.  He also worked at Raytec Manufacturing in Memphis, Missouri for ten years. The last three and a half years, Amos and Grace worked together at Horst Therapy in Edina, Missouri.  His last working day was August 15, 2013.

    Amos was a member of the Cornerstone Mennonite Church of Memphis, Missouri.

    He is survived by his wife, Grace W. Horst of rural Edina, Missouri, two sons and three daughters, June  Marie (Kenneth Good) of Memphis, Missouri, Samuel (Myrtle Dueck) of Boley, Oklahoma, Martha Jane (Daniel House) of Waverly Hall, Georgia, Ruth Naomi (Richard Miller) of Linn, Missouri and Amos Edwin “Eddie” (Sabrina Bork) of rural Edina, Missouri.  He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, five brothers, Aaron Horst, John (Maggie Horst), Frank Horst, James (Nora Horst), and Edwin (Ruth Horst); six sisters, Vera (Allen Fox), Lena Weiler, Katie (Leon High), Amelia (Aurthur Weaver), Margret (Henry Martin), and Mary Ellen (Leon Martin); many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.

    Amos was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Phares, Leon David, and Clarence Horst and one sister, Anna Burkholder.

    Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 19, 2013, at the Cornerstone Mennonite Church west of Memphis, Missouri. The church will open at 9:00 a.m. Thursday morning for visitation until time of  services.

    For friends and family in the Edina area, visitation will be Wednesday, September 18, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Edina.

    For friends and family in the Memphis area, Visitation will be Wednesday, September 18, 2013, from 5:00 to 8:30 p.m. with the family at the Cornerstone Mennonite Church west of Memphis, Missouri.

    Burial will be in the Cornerstone Mennonite Cemetery west of Memphis, Missouri.

    The family request no flowers, only your presence and prayers.
