Joseph Harold Bachman, 83, of Novelty, Missouri , passed away Thursday, July 18, 2013, at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.
Harold was born on November 10, 1929, in Edina, Missouri, the son of Leo and Edith Pruitt Bachman.
Harold attended school in Knox County, Missouri
On March 5, 1953, in Shelbina, Missouri, Harold married Billie Marjorie Baldwin and to this union three children were born, and she preceded him in death on March 7, 2006.
They made their home in Plevna, Missouri and later moved to Novelty, Missouri. He worked several years as a mechanic for Rouner’s Implement in Plevna, then owned and operated Bachman Phillips 66 Service Station and Bachman’s Grocery Store both of Plevna, Missouri. He went to work for MoDot in 1975 and retired in 1991, during his employment with MoDot he worked out of the Novelty, Missouri Barn.
Harold was a member of the Pioneer Rangers Saddle Club of Novelty, Missouri, he had been a member of the Moose Lodge of Kirksville, Missouri and the Edina Country Club in Edina, Missouri.
He is survived by five children, Jacqueline Janice Mittag of Kansas City, Kansas, Billie Joann DeHart of Kansas City, Missouri, Harold David and his wife Robin Bachman of Los Alamos, New Mexico, Elizabeth Ann and her husband Roger Bogacz of Blue Springs, Missouri, and Patricia Lynn and her husband Curt Elliott of Blue Springs, Missouri, nine grandchildren, two step grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren; a sister, Virginia and her husband Clarence Hudson of Palmyra, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Louise Bachman of Macon, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews and cousins, along with a host friends.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Edith Bachman; his wife, Billie Bachman; a brother, Herschel Bachman; and a sister, Louise and her husband Benlee Robertson.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 22, 2013, at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.
Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 21, 2013, with the family greeting friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville, Missouri.
Pastor Reese Blaine will officiate and music will be provided by Ed Anderson, Debbie Peters, Audrey Hamlin and LeaAnn Hamlin. Casket Bearers will be Tom Hamlin, Larry Primm, Ray Griffith, Mike Franke, Karl Franke, and Gary Bim Parsons along with Honorary Bearers Gary Bowman, Larry Pete Simmons, Harley Hamlin, Dennis Steffel and Larry Christopher.
An expression of sympathy in memory of Harold Bachman may be left to the Pioneer Ranger Saddle Club of Novelty, Missouri. A memorial may be left at or mailed to the Doss Funeral Home 208 N. 4th Street, Edina, Missouri 63537.
