Rodney Earl Gossman 53, of Mt. Zion passed away at 3:29 a.m., Saturday, November 24, 2012, at St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur, Illinois.

A service to celebrate Rodney's life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 29, 2012, at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home in Mt. Zion with Pastor Steve Ingram officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to South Shores Christian Church.

Rodney was born April 20, 1959, in Kirksville, MO the son of Charles and JoAnn (Jackson) Gossman. He graduated from Gem City College in Quincy, IL and went on to become the Director of loose diamond sales for K's Merchandise Mart. Rodney was most recently employed by Stratas Foods. On June 6, 1987, he married Teresa "Terri" Tyler. He was an active member of South Shores Christian Church and previously coached youth basketball in Mt. Zion. As a devoted family man, he cherished every moment spent with his wife and children and loved nothing more than discussing his children's pursuits. Rodney will be remembered for his whimsical humor, profound spirit, willingness to help others, and pride in his children's educational accomplishments.

Surviving is his wife of twenty-five years: Terri of Mt. Zion; parents: Charles and JoAnn Gossman of Edina, MO; son: Zachary Gossman of Cleveland, OH; daughter: Stephanie Gossman of Lebanon, NH.

He was preceded in death by his brother Randy Gossman.
