    Donald R. Bruegenhemke, age 82, of Baring, Missouri, passed away Monday, November 21, 2016 at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. 

    Donald was born on May 3, 1934 near Edina, Missouri, to Leo and Verna (Lingenfelter) Bruegenhemke. 

    On January 21, 1954 he married Alice Marie Kriegshauser in Baring, Missouri. 

    Donald was raised on the family farm near Baring, Missouri and attended school in Baring where he graduated with the class of 1952.  Donald and Alice owned and operated the Bruegenhemke Market in Baring for several years.  He was later engaged in farming.  Throughout the years, Donald served in several positions for the town of Baring.  Donald was an avid card player and sports enthusiast.  He greatly enjoyed his coffee group at the local café and making trips to the farm when he was able. 

    Most of all, Donald enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and the Baring Country Club in Baring, Missouri. 

    Donald was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Alice, a son Brian Bruegenhemke, a son-in-law Terry Morrow and a sister Shirley Mayer.   

    Donald is survived by a son, Mark Bruegenhemke and wife Judy of Kirksville, Missouri; a daughter, Lisa Morrow of Baring, Missouri; a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Bruegenhemke of Columbia, Missouri; five grandchildren, Kaitlin Bruegenhemke Saucier and husband Aaron of Columbia, Missouri, Drew Bruegenhemke and Allie Bruegenhemke both of Columbia, Missouri, Scott Simpson of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Shawn Simpson and wife Hilarie of Edmond, Oklahoma; three great-grandchildren, Connor Simpson of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Anderson Simpson and Spencer Simpson both of Edmond, Oklahoma and two sisters, Barbara Kiley of Baring, Missouri and Carolyn Higgins of Brashear, Missouri; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.  

    A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Baring on Saturday, November 26, 2016. 

    Visitation will be after 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 25, 2016 at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri, with the family greeting friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.  A Christian Prayer Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. 

    Burial will be in the St. Aloysius Cemetery in Baring. 

    Father Colin Franklin will officiate and music will be provided by Jim and Kyle Clark.  Pallbearers will be Donald’s nephews:  Craig Mayer, Doug Mayer, Gary Mayer, Richard Kiley, Steven Kiley and David Higgins.  Honorary pallbearers will be Russell Shultz, Larry Burke, Kenny Hustead, George Hunolt, Richard Clark, Tommy Small and Mike Early. 

    An expression of sympathy in memory of Donald Bruegenhemke may be left to St. Aloysius Cemetery or the Knox County Nursing Home. A memorial may be left at or mailed to the Doss Funeral Home, 208 North 4Th Street, Edina, Missouri 63537.
