Dean R. Jensen, 85 of Streator passed away Wednesday evening (Dec. 28th) at St. Mary’s Hospital.
A memorial visitation will be held Monday from 10AM until 11AM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be held on Monday at 11AM at the funeral home with full military honors conducted by the Streator American Legion and the Streator VFW.
Dean was born on November 2, 1926 in Streator, IL to Walter and Esther (Bedecker) Jensen.
He married Sarah Ferrell on December 27, 1957. She survives.
Also surviving are children, Terri (Edward) Isabel of Streator, Kimberly (Rick) West of Taylor, SC, John (Susan) Jensen of Lake Wylie, SC, Joy Jensen of Streator, James Jensen of Trabuco Canyon, CA, and Daniel Jensen of CA, 15 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. Dean is also survived by a sister-in-law, Phyllis and her husband Don Woodward of Edina, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughters, Melody Jensen, Paula Wolfe, and Leann Doty, brothers, Glen Carl Jensen, and Walter in infancy, sisters, Lillian Fornero and Norma in infancy.
Dean attended Flanagan grade school and graduated from Flanagan High School in 1944. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from Western Electric. He enjoyed flying and gardening and playing guitar in bands in the Streator area.
