    Ruby Pauline Prather, age 91, of Edina, Missouri, passed away Friday, January 6, 2012, at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.

    The daughter of Lawrence and Edith Wood, she was born on March 13, 1920, at Yarrow, Missouri.

    Ruby was reared in the Yarrow Community where she attended Curtis School.

    On August 15, 1935 at Redfield, South Dakota, she was united in marriage to Henry William Prather and to this union five children were born.

     Ruby lived on the farm, southwest of Knox City, Missouri, most of her life. She worked some at the Knox County Nursing Home and did house keeping for many of their neighbors. She lived in the Edina Senior Housing for the past 17 years.

    She was a born again member of the Knox City Baptist Church, where she enjoyed fellowship with her church family. She enjoyed the farm life, and loved to garden, fish and spend time with her family.

    Ruby is survived by one son, Hillis Dale and his wife JoAnn Prather of Knox City, Missouri; a daughter, Betty and her husband Ray Drage of Edina, Missouri; two daughters-in-law, Jill Prather  of Mesa, Arizona and Brenda Prather Boltz of Monticello, Missouri; eleven grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and twenty-eight great great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Edith Wood; husband Henry Prather; three sons, William “Bill” Prather, Jackie Lee Prather, and Johnny Laverne Prather; and a sister, Louise Wood.

    Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.

    Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday Morning at the funeral home.

    Burial will be in the Knox City Cemetery in Knox City, Missouri.

    Pastor Doug Wilson will officiate and music will be provided by Carol Hayes and Brent Karhoff. Casket Bearers will be Jim Wilson, Sam Wilson, Bill Hayes, Wayne Wolgast, Jacob Goss, and Christopher Wilkins.

    An expression of sympathy in memory of Ruby Prather may be left to the Knox City Baptist Church. A memorial may be left at or mailed to the Doss Funeral Home 208 N. 4th Street, Edina , Missouri 63537.
