Paul Kriegshauser


Kriegshauser Picture_0.jpg       Paul Clement Kriegshauser, 89, of Edina, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at his residence in Edina.

    Paul was born on November 23, 1916, in Edina, Missouri, the son of William A. and Stella McAtee Kriegshauser.

    He was raised in Edina, Missouri and attended the St. Joseph Grade School and Edina High School, graduating with the class of 1936. Paul graduated in 1937 from the Williams Institute of Embalming and was licensed by the State of Missouri as a Funeral Director and Embalmer.

    Paul served his country in the United States Army, serving in Patton???s Third Army in the European Theater during World War II.

    He was a partner in Kriegshauser Brothers Furniture Store that operated continuously since 1899 until it sold in 1996 and also the Kriegshauser Brothers Funeral Home that operated from 1899 to 1994.

     Paul was a lifetime member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he served as a bell ringer for more than 45 years, Knights of Columbus, charter member of the Edina Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Knox City American Legion Post, and for twenty-five years he was a member of  the Edina Volunteer Fire Department.

    On April 15, 1947, at the St. Mary???s Catholic Church in Adair, Missouri, Paul  married Mary Lucille Shahan and to this union five children were born.

    Paul is survived by his wife Mary Lu Kriegshauser of Edina, Missouri; two sons, Paul Jr. and his wife Jane Kriegshauser of Tucson, Arizona and Dennis and his wife Barbara Kriegshauser of Overland Park, Kansas; three daughters, Kathleen and her husband Rick Pozek of Overland Park, Kansas, Karen Hoog of Blue Springs, Missouri, and Dot Kriegshauser of Edina, Missouri; a brother, Carl and his wife Mary Kriegshauser of Edina, Missouri; a sister, Dorothy O???Connor of Des Moines, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Joshua and his wife Sarah Kriegshauser of San Diego, California, Christian Kriegshauser of Tucson, Arizona, Ryan Kriegshauser of Kansas City, Missouri, Bret Pozek of Overland Park, Kansas, Mark Kriegshauser of Tucson, Arizona, John-Paul Pozek of Ponce, Puerto Rico, Jaime Hoog of Columbia, Missouri, Jessica and her husband Matt Harris of Emporia, Kansas, and Amber Hoog of Blue Springs, Missouri; a great grandson, Josiah Kriegshauser of San Diego, California; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

    Paul was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Arthur Kriegshauser and one in infancy and a sister, Marie Lahman.

    A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, November 3, 2006, at 3:00 p.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edina, Missouri.

    Visitation will be Thursday, November 2, 2006, after 4:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edina, Missouri.

    Father Bill Kottenstette will officiate and music will be provided by Nancy Reardon and Lisa Bowen. Pallbearers will be Christian Kriegshauser, Ryan Kriegshauser, Bret Pozek, Mark Kriegshauser, Pat Kriegshauser, and Mike Kriegshauser. Honorary Bearers will be Jake Karhoff, Dr. T.D. O???Brien, Frank Krueger, Gene O???Donnell, Ralph House, and Jerome Kriegshauser.

    An expression of sympathy in memory of Paul Kriegshauser may be left to the St. Joseph Catholic Church for Masses or the Arthritis Foundation. A memorial may be left at or mailed to the Doss Funeral Home 208 N. 4th Street, Edina, Missouri 63537.
