     Patrick Joseph “Pat” Kelly, 52, of Edina, Missouri, passed away Thursday, July 15, 2010, at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.

    Pat was born on March 17, 1958, in Newton, Kansas, the son of Robert Eugene and Donna Rae Ehrlich Kelly.

    He was born and raised in Marion, Kansas, where he was quarterback of the Marion High School graduating in the Class of 1976. After graduating he served his country in the United States Navy, and was chosen as Review Commander at the Great Lakes Training Center and was accepted to the elite Nuclear Welding School in San Diego, California.

    While serving on the USS Samuel Gompers, Pat met the love of his life, Lynne Marie Bednarz also serving aboard and they were married on July 1, 1989.

    Pat worked with his father for a number of years in Kelly Construction in Marion, Kansas before his employment with Greeley Gas and was transferred in 1998, to Edina, Missouri when the name changed to Atmos Energy.

    Pat was a member of the St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Marion, Kansas, the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edina, Missouri, the Knights of Columbus Council #846 and was a 4th Degree Knight with the JFK Assembly #1446. Pat was also a member of the Edina Fire Department, and had served as president of the NEMO Bow and Gun Club.

    Pat loved the outdoors hunting and fishing as a youngster, mowed yards and worked outdoors.

    Pat is survived by his wife Lynne Kelly of Edina, Missouri; two sons, Evan Kelly and his friend Ashley of Shelbyville, Missouri and Ryan Kelly of Edina, Missouri; his parents, Bob and Donna Kelly of Marion, Kansas; a mother-in-law, Natalie P. Tenny of Longmont, Colorado and father-in-law, Bernard J. Bednarz of Dudley, Massachusetts; a brother-in-law, Douglas Druse and nephews, Christopher and Joshua; a niece, Danielle and a great niece, Saxon all of Melbourne, Florida; an aunt and uncle, and numerous cousins and a host of friends.

    Pat was preceded in death by a sister, Sherri Marie Druse on December 14, 2009.

    A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, July 19, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edina, Missouri.

    Father Bill Kottenstette will officate and music will be provided by Nancy Reardon and Brent Karhoff. Pall Bearers will be Tom Morgret, Alan Morgret, Harry Behrmann, Phil Gragg, Kelly Hayes and Joe Simmons.

    Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m., Sunday, July 18, 2010, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri, with the 4th Degree Knights Honor Guard. A Christian Prayer Service will be at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday.

    Military Graveside Honors will be Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the Marion Cemetery in Marion, Kansas with Father Hien Nguyen officiating.

    An expression of sympathy in memory of Pat Kelly may be left to the Edina Fire Department or the St. Joseph Catholic Church. A memorial may be left at or mailed to the Doss Funeral Home 208 N. 4th Street, Edina, Missouri 63537.
