Norma Fletcher Doss


Norma Doss_0.jpg     Norma Lou Fletcher Doss, 62, of LaBelle, Missouri, passed away Saturday, February 26, 2011, at the Country Aire Retirement Estates in Lewistown, Missouri.

    Norma was born on March 18, 1948, in Knox City, Missouri, the daughter of Alfred and Willa Kessler Strange.

    She was raised in the Knox City area and attended Knox City Elementary before graduating in the Class of 1966 from the Knox County High School in Edina, Missouri.

     On February 5, 1967, in Knox City, Missouri, Norma married Robert Hagan Fletcher, who preceded her in death on March 27, 1999, and to this union three children were born.

    Norma enjoyed playing bingo and trips to the casino boat but she loved the time she spent with family and friends, especially her grandchildren, whom she spoiled as she should.

    She worked at Motorola in Quincy, Illinois, and later at the Knox County Nursing Home as a cook. Norma worked at several cafes in the community.

     On July 1, 2006, in Knox City, Missouri, Norma married Jay Tee Doss and he survives of the home in LaBelle, Missouri. She is also survived  by her children, Robert Howard and his wife Lori Fletcher of Fairmont, Missouri, Lynn and her husband Kevin Schutz of Elkhart, Indiana and Laura Ann and her husband Scott Dowell of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two step children, Scott and his wife Stacey Doss of Raymore, Missouri and Kerry Doss of Belton, Missouri; five granddaughters, Heather Benner and Fiance Michael Pryor of Maywood, Missouri, Megan Lawson and Hanna Dowell of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Kynadee and Brooklyn Schutz of Elkhart, Indiana; a grandson, Ashton Dowell of Colorado Springs Colorado;  three step grandchildren, Riley, Jordan and Adam Doss of Raymore, Missouri; a great granddaughter, Maddie Lou Pryor; a sister, Lila Bunte of Valdosta, Georgia; two brothers, Elvin Strange of Emden, Missouri and Larry Strange of Knox City, Missouri; two special friends Kendra and Jaimie Davis of Knox City, Missouri; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

    Norma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister, Brenda Berhorst.

    Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.

    Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2011, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral  home.

    Burial will be in the Knox City Cemetery in Knox City, Missouri.

    Pastor Mike Wilson will officiate and Casket Bearers will be Virgil Doss, Wendell Doss, Donnie Strange, Bobby Strange, Billy Strange and Leroy Parrish, along with Honorary Bearers, Chuck Zuccarini, Leroy Rohs, Mike Miller, Micheal Pryor, Jeff Lanzendorf and Tyler Doss.

    An expression of sympathy in memory of Norma Doss may be left to the Family’s Wishes. A memorial may be left at or mailed to the Doss Funeral Home 208 N. 4th Street, Edina, Missouri 63537.
