      Martha E. Swann, 85, of Edina, Missouri formerly of Novelty, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at the Knox County Nursing Home in Edina, Missouri after a brief illness.

    Martha was born on March 27, 1921 in rural Edina, the oldest child of Cletus and Mae Moran Kriegshauser.

    On September 28, 1941, Martha married Marion W. Swann in Edina and he preceded her in death on December 11, 1985.

    Martha attended rural schools in Knox County and was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School. She and her husband operated a farm in the Novelty area for over forty years. In 2004, Martha moved to Edina Senior Housing where she enjoyed her many new friends and neighbors.

    She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, the St. Ann's Altar Sodality, Fifty Plus, and the Greenley Extension Club. Martha loved to cook and travel but most of all she loved keeping up with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

    Martha is survived by five sons, Raymond and his wife Sherri Swann of Liberty, Illinois, Bruce and his wife Debbie Swann of Urbana, Illinois, Kurt Swann of San Diego, California, John and his wife Patricia Swann of Utica, New York, Gregg and his wife Yvette Swann of New York City, New York, two daughters, Margaret and her husband Gary Gibson of Edina, and Mary and her husband Mark Bayles of St. Louis, Missouri, a brother, John Kriegshauser of Las Cruces, New Mexico, a sister, Ruth and her husband John Parks of Topeka, Kansas, eleven grandchildren, Chris Swann of Greensboro, North Carolina, Kelly and her husband Doug VanderMaiden of Quincy, Illinois, Emily Swann and Oliver Swann both of Urbana, Illinois, Martha Swann of Syracuse, New York, Sarah Swann and Olivia Swann both of Utica, New York, Peter Swann of New York City, New York, Gina and her husband Scott Walker of Columbia, Missouri, Gayla and her husband David Morales of Chicago, Illinois,  and Ginger and her husband Jason Gibson of Columbia, Missouri, three great grandchildren, Kait, Gabe, and Andrew VanderMaiden, several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

    Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, April 29, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edina, Missouri.

    Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2006, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.

    Father Bill Kottenstette will officiate and music will be provided by Jim and Kyle Clark. Pallbearers will be Mike Franke, Jeff Smith, Larry Clark, Stephen Kriegshauser, Kim Smith and Carol Hall.

    Burial will be in the St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery in Edina, Missouri.
