    Mark Richey Nichols, 51, of Hurdland, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.

    He was born on September 21, 1960, in Kirksville, Missouri, the son of James William and Bonita Richey Nichols.

    On September 3, 1983, in Baring, Missouri, Mark married Christina “Kaye” Dye.

    Mark attended the Hurdland Elementary and Knox County High School graduating in the Class of 1978. He worked on the farm south of Hurdland, Missouri and in 1993 he went to work for Orscheln Qualico in Moberly, Missouri as a machinist.

    Mark is a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Edina, Missouri, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector. He was a 4th Degree Knight of J.F.K. Assembly Knights of Columbus.

    Mark enjoyed hunting, fishing and softball with his girls and spending time with his children, grandchildren.

    Mark is survived by his wife Kaye Nichols of Hurdland, Missouri; a son, Quentin and his wife Courtney Nichols of Kirksville, Missouri; two daughters, Olivia and Emily Nichols both of the home in Hurdland, Missouri; two granddaughters, Quencie and Raelie Nichols; a brother, Steve Nichols of Burlington, Iowa; an aunt, Maxine and her husband Ivan Harmon of Herrin, Illinois; and uncle, J.C. Sherrard of Herrin, Illinois;  nieces, Jamie and her husband Adam Siegel of Burlington, Iowa, Laura Nichols of Burlington, Iowa; three great nieces and nephews, Daniel James Siegel, Taylor Dawn Siegel and Jaxson Wade Siegel all of the home in Burlington, Iowa; his father and mother-in-law, Albert and Donna Dye of Edina, Missouri; brothers-in-law, Eddie Dye of Macon, Missouri and his children, Brandi and Tel Dye, and Tom and his wife Tammy Dye of Knox City, Missouri and his children, Holly and Hannah Dye,  along with several cousins, and a host of friends.

    Mark was preceded in death by his parents, James and Bonita Nichols.

    Christian Burial Service will be Sunday, August 26, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.

    Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 25, 2012, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Edina, Missouri. A Christian Prayer Service will be at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

    Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Hurdland, Missouri.

    Father Joseph Hoi will officiate and Deacon Ken Berry will assist. Music will be provided by Jim and Kyle Clark. Pall Bearers will be Adam Siegel, Eddie Dye, Tom Dye, Larry Wiskirchen, Clint Miller, and Herb Huntsman.

    An expression of sympathy may be left to Marks’ Children’s Education Fund in memory of Mark Nichols. A memorial may be left at or mailed to the Doss Funeral Home 208 N. 4th Street, Edina, Missouri 63537.
