    Mary Lu Kriegshauser, 84 of Edina, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.

    Mary Lu was born on December 25, 1925, in Brashear, Missouri, the daughter of Thomas Lair and Anna Garlock Shahan.

    She was raised in Brashear, Missouri and graduated from the Brashear High School  in the Class of 1943. She continued her education in St. Joseph, Missouri at the St. Joseph School of Nursing, graduating in the Class of 1946.

    After graduation she returned to northeast Missouri where she was employed by the Gibson Hospital in Edina, Missouri, working as a surgical nurse.

    While working in the hospital, she was introduced to Paul Clement Kriegshauser and they were married on April 15, 1947, in Adair, Missouri, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

    Mary Lu was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edina, Missouri, St. Anne’s Altar Society, active with the Nursing Club and Cadet Nurses. She was a homemaker and mother.

    Mary Lu and Paul were a partner in Kriegshauser Brothers Furniture Store that operated continuously since 1899 until it sold in 1996 and also the Kriegshauser Brothers Funeral Home that operated from 1899 to 1994.

    Mary Lu is survived by two sons, Paul Jr. and his wife Jane Kriegshauser of Tucson, Arizona and Dennis and his wife Barbara Kriegshauser of Overland Park, Kansas; three daughters, Kathleen and her husband Rick Pozek of Kansas City, Missouri, Karen Hoog of Blue Springs, Missouri, and Dot Kriegshauser of Edina, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Virginia Shahan of North Ferrisburg, Vermont; a brother-in-law, Carl and his wife, Mary Kriegshauser of Edina, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Joshua and his wife, Sarah Kriegshauser of San Diego, California, Christian Kriegshauser of Tucson, Arizona, Ryan and his wife, Christie Kriegshauser of Gardner, Kansas, Bret and his wife, Brenda Pozek of Kansas City, Missouri, Mark Kriegshauser of Tucson, Arizona, John-Paul Pozek of New York, New York, Jaime and her husband, Lucas Kunce of Oceanside, California, Jessica Kriegshauser of Gardner, Kansas, and Amber Hoog of Blue Springs, Missouri; a great-grandson, Josiah Kriegshauser of San Diego, California; three great-granddaughters, Emma, Sophie and Lily Kriegshauser; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

    Mary Lu was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Anna Shahan; her husband, Paul Kriegshauser; five brothers, Robert, George, Millard “Doc”, Donald and Jesse Shahan;  and two sisters, Anabel Shumaker and Lillie Shahan

    A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, October 2, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edina, Missouri.

    Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m., Friday, October 1, 2010, with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.

    Burial will be in the St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery in Edina, Missouri.

    Father Joseph Hoi will officiate and music will be provided by Nancy Reardon and Lisa Bowen. Pallbearers will be Joshua Kriegshauser, Christian Kriegshauser, Ryan Kriegshauser, Bret Pozek, Mark Kriegshauser, John-Paul Pozek, Jaime Kunce, Jessica Kriegshauser, and Amber Hoog.

    An expression of sympathy in memory of Mary Lu Kriegshauser may be left to the St. Joseph Catholic Church for Masses, the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association. A memorial may be left at or mailed to the Doss Funeral Home 208 N. 4th Street, Edina, Missouri 63537.
