    Estelle Jean “Jeanne” Perrigo, 73, of Edina, Missouri, passed away Monday, May 14, 2012, at her son’s residence near Novelty, Missouri.

    Jeanne was born on July 2, 1938, in Plevna, Missouri, the daughter of John Sid and Beulah I. Walker Simmons.

    She attended school in Plevna, Missouri, before finishing her education at the Edina High School. She lived in the Plevna, Bethel, & Newark communities during her younger years and was a member of the Mt. Salem Baptist Church.

    In August, 1954, Jeanne married Donnie Lee Perrigo and to this union two boys were born.

    Jeanne was always busy. She ran her own restaurant in Plevna during the 1960’s, worked in Quincy, Illinois, for Shopper’s Fair and others in the 1970’s, was a caseworker in the Knox County Family Services in the early 1980’s, and finally settled in the late 1980’s at the Knox County Nutrition Site and spent nearly 25 years there until her health failed but not her spirit.

    She was secretary for the Knox County Historical Society, served on the Knox County Nursing Home Board, and served on the first board for the Knox County Cornfest.

    Jeanne enjoyed antiques and auctions, following the St. Louis Cardinal Baseball Games and spending time playing cards, visiting the Casino, and going out with her gang of ladies to eat. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

    She is survived by two sons, Steve Perrigo of Grain Valley, Missouri, and Doug and his wife Debbie Perrigo of rural Novelty, Missouri; two sisters,  Rose and her husband Terry Marble of Edina, Missouri, and Barbara Jane Simmons of Downey, California; four grandchildren, Dani and Centron Felder, Brad and Teresa Dixson, Samantha Perrigo and Krisi Gillis; two great grandchildren, Angel Gillis and Jace Felder; a sister-in-law, Nancy Simmons of Center, Missouri; five nieces and nephews, Tammy and Pat Kriegshauser, Tracie and Rex Lingenfelter, Tony and Kyane Marble, Jamey and Beth Simmons and Jason Simmons; along with numerous cousins and a host of friends.

    Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, John and Beulah Simmons; and a brother, John Simmons, Jr.

    Funeral Services will be Saturday, May 19, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.

    Visitation will also be Saturday with the family receiving friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

    Burial will be in the Mt. Salem Cemetery, west of Newark, Missouri.

    An expression of sympathy in memory of Jeanne Perrigo may be left to the Knox County Nutrition Site.  A memorial may be left at or mailed to the Doss Funeral Home 208 N. 4th Street, Edina, Missouri.
