Jeffry M. Parks , 58, of Beatrice, Nebraska died at his home at the Beatrice State Developmental center on Monday morning, April 12, 2010. He was born on December 14, 1951 at Wichita, Kansas. He had lived at the BSDC for over 45 years and had been a member of the Campus Board Advisory Board. This Board was instrumental in getting the train for the residents. He was also a member of the Boy Scouts. He enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening and craft activities, but most of all he loved life and his dear extended family at BSDC.
Survivors include his mother, Ruth Parks of Topeka, Kansas; one brother, David Parks of Glendale, California and several cousins including Margaret and Gary Gibson of Edina, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his father, John Parks on April 29, 2008.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, April 16, 2010 at the All Faiths Chapel at the Beatrice State Developmental Center with Father Steve Major officiating. A luncheon for the entire BSDC community will follow the service to celebrate the lives of best friends, Jeffry Parks and George Edson. A memorial has been established to the family’s choice. A family prayer service will be held at 6:30 P.M. on Thursday evening at the Fox Funeral Home in Beatrice, Nebraska, with Chaplain Larry Ramsey officiating. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home from 8:00 A.M. Thursday morning until 9:00 P.M. Thursday evening and at All Faiths Chapel in the BSDC on Friday one hour preceding the service.
