    Guy “Junior” Oliver, also known as Lightning, 67, of Baring, Missouri, passed away Monday, October 25, 2010, at his residence. 

    Junior was born on November 6, 1942, in Rock Island, Illinois, the son of Guy, Sr. and Nellie Kathleen Oliver.

    He moved to Memphis, Missouri with his parents and attended the Friendship Rural School near Crawford, Missouri and graduated from the Memphis High School in the Class of 1960.

    On September 29, 1963, he married Sandra Huff and from this union four sons were born.   He worked as a mechanic in Memphis for Shug Cunningham at the Morgan Oil Service Station, where he got his nickname “Lightning”. He also worked as a logger for Cortwright and Elliott Logging. He was a scraper  operator during the construction of the Memphis Lake and assisted in the construction of the Memphis High School.

    In 1978 he moved to Baring, Missouri and worked as a mechanic for Hustead Trucking.  On May 3, 1980 he married Doris D. Wheeler.  In 1993 he started his own business, Oliver Repair and three years later, they added Oliver’s Café.  In June 1997, he began a partnership with Russell Shultz under the name of J & R Repair until retiring in 2003.

     He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, Ronnie Oliver.

    Junior is survived by his wife, Doris Oliver of Baring, Missouri; ten children, Jerry Oliver and wife Heather of New London, Iowa, David Oliver and wife Tina of New London, Iowa, Robert Oliver and wife Stacey of New London, Iowa, Michael Oliver and wife Tonya of Pulaski, Iowa, Rick Nelson and wife Kelly of Arbela, Missouri, Debbie Hettinger and fiancé Tom VanGrinsven of Eugene, Missouri, Tammy Stull and Husband Todd of Baring, Missouri, Eddie Nelson and wife Debbie of O’Fallon, Missouri, Dee J. Wheeler of Baring, Missouri and Jessie Wheeler and Special Friend Gary McKenzie of Edina, Missouri;  a brother, Charles Oliver of Weatherby, Missouri; a sister, Nancy Clatt of Memphis, Missouri; twenty-five grandchildren, Kyle and Matthew Oliver, Amy Offett, Bobbie and Brad Holt, T.J. Engelbrecht, Christopher, Nicholas and Zachary Oliver, Travis Hettinger and fiancé Heather Valentine, Trevor and Brittany Hettinger, David Stull, Morgan Oliver, Bobby, Josh and Melissa Anderson, Danielle, Rayden and Trace Wheeler, Curtis, Benjamin and Daniel Oliver, Jordan, Jaymie and Dakota Bowen; twelve great-grandchildren;  Tristan and Emily Hilpert, Katie Offett, Hunter Holt, Emma Anderson, Anthony Swatosh, Isaac, Hannah, Haley, Angela Anderson, Nicholas and Kavin Anderson; nephews, cousin and a host of friends.

    Honoring his wishes, he was cremated and a memorial graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 6, 2010 at the St. Aloysius Cemetery in Baring, Missouri.
