    Jennel Bowen, 82, of Edina, Missouri, passed away Thursday, August 5, 2010 at the Blessing Hospital of Quincy, Illinois.

    Jennel was born on January 21, 1928, on a farm west of Leonard, Missouri,  the daughter of Walter Fayette and Mary Viola Garnett Daniel.

    She was reared in the Cherry Box – Leonard Community, attending the Cherry Box Christian Church as a youngster. She graduated from the Novelty High School before attending college in Columbia, Missouri.

    In April 1947, in Shelby County, Missouri, Jennel married William Lloyd Bowen and to this union five children were born.

    Jennel and Lloyd farmed most of their life moving several times from Novelty, Missouri to Hagers Grove, College Mound, Macon, Novelty, Greensburg before moving to the current farm west of Edina, Missouri to make their home.

    She was a member of the Hurdland Baptist Church and the Community Action Agency. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, quilting, sewing, crocheting, needle point, canning and loved farm life.

    Jennel is survived by four sons, Dale and his wife Bonnie Bowen of Edina, Missouri, Dicky and his wife Lisa Bowen of Edina, Missouri, Will Bowen of Blue Springs, Missouri and James Bowen of Edina, Missouri; a daughter, Gloria Campbell of Macon, Missouri; three brothers, a sister, seven grandchildren, Scott and Melanie Bowen, Josh and Amber Bowen, Brett Bowen, Richard and Sallie Bowen, Tim and Jess Bowen, Chris and Kristina Wolf and Tracy and Travis Coffman; twelve great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

    Jennel was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mary Daniel, and her husband, Lloyd Bowen on August 24, 1979.

    Funeral services will be Sunday, August 8, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.

    Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m. Sunday with the family receiving friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

    Burial will be in the Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville, Missouri.

    Brother Robert Shobe will officiate and casket bearers will be Brett Bowen, Josh Bowen, Scottie Bowen, Richard Bowen,Chris Wolf, Travis Coffman and Tim Bowen.
