Edna Grace Foster

    Edna Grace Luker Foster, age 98, of Edina Missouri, Formerly of Hedge City, Missouri, passed away, Monday, July 27, 2009 in the Knox County Nursing Home.

    She was born near Hedge City, on May 15, 1911, the daughter of John K. and Bertha Belle Clemons Luker.

    Grace received her grade school education at Coe Rural School and was a graduate of Novelty High School in Novelty, Missouri, before attending the Kirksville State Teachers College.  She taught the Hedge City School for two years.

    Grace was united in marriage to Noble L. Foster on December 24, 1930, in Edina, Missouri.  She joined her husband and together they owned and operated "Fosters Market", in Hedge City, Missouri, their entire married life, retiring in 1997.

    She was a member of the Hedge City Baptist Church and was active in her church, 4-H organization, PTA, and Lady's Aid.

    Grace is survived by one son, Ronald L. Foster of Fredericktown, Missouri; three grandchildren, Susan and her husband Randy McReynolds, Tommy Foster, and Mary Mills and her fiance Chuck Hensley all of Quincy, Illinois; two great-grandchildren, Christopher Hunolt of  Bethel, Missouri and Marissa Mills of Quincy, Illinois; three step-great-grandchildren, Brock and Dustin McReynolds of LaGrange, Missouri and Jason Mills of Quincy, Illinois; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

    Grace was preceded her in death by her husband Noble Foster, March 3, 2001.  Also preceding her in death were her parents, John and Bertha Luker; five brothers, Herbert, Leo, Jess, John and Fred Luker; four sisters, Nettie Dusenberry, Pinkie Luker, Ida Lindau and Pauline Xander; two nephews, Edwin Xander and Delbert Luker.

    Funeral Services will be Thursday, July 30, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.

    Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m., Wednesday,  July 29, 2009, with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.

    Pastor Reese Blaine will officiate and music will be provided by Nancy Reardon and Alice Gosney. Casket Bearers will be Verlin Luker, Darrell Xander, Christopher Hunolt, Randy McReynolds, and Chuck Hensley along with Honorary Bearers John Nagel, Jerry Poor and F. B. Hall.

     Burial will  be in the Harmony Cemetery north of Hedge City, Missouri.

    An expression of sympathy in memory of Grace Foster may be left to the Knox County Nursing Home. A memorial may be left at or mailed to the Doss Funeral Home, 208 N. Fourth Street, Edina, Missouri 63537.
