    Freddie Ray Ladwig, 78, of Edina, Missouri, passed away Friday, February 8, 2013, at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.

    Freddie was born on August 31, 1934, in Brashear, Missouri, the son of Raymond G. and Juanita Lane Ladwig.

    He attended the Brashear Elementary before his family moved to Baring, Missouri in 1950, and he graduated from the Baring High School.

    After school he helped on the family farm, near Baring, Missouri, for a number of years until he was called into the United States Army in 1957. After his enlistment was over he attended barber school in Tyler, Texas and worked several years in Wyaconda, Missouri as a barber.

    Freddie changed vocations and began driving for Morgan Oil, Dean Knisley and Kerr Grain and Seed until his retirement in 1999.

    On February 26, 1999, in Edina, Missouri, Freddie married Susan Johnston.

    He was a member of the Greensburg Masonic Lodge #414, in Greensburg, Missouri, for almost 57 years.

    Freddie is survived by his wife, Susan of Edina, Missouri; a sister, Marlyn and her husband Robert Smock of Huntley, Illinois; nieces and nephews, Jeff and his wife Debbie Smock of Fort Worth, Texas and Greg and his wife Jacque Smock of Roselle, Illinois; father-in-law, Ralph and his wife Marilyn Johnston of Edina, Missouri; two brother-in-laws, Craig and his wife Heike Johnston of Columbia, Missouri and John Johnston of Kirksville, Missouri; a long with a host of friends.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Juanita Ladwig and his mother-in-law, Louise Johnston.

    Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 11, 2013, at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.

    Visitation will be after 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 10, 2013, with the family receiving friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A Masonic Service will be at 6:00 p.m. by the Greensburg Masonic Lodge #414.

    Burial with full military honors will be in the Greensburg Cemetery in Greensburg, Missouri. Knox County American Legion and VFW will carry out those honors.

    Pastor Mike Wilson will officiate and Casket Bearers will be Dale Roberts, Kim Smith, Rick Yoakum, Dean Knisley, Leon Moots and Jim Hamlin, along with Honorary Bearers Steve Edwards, Vance Rowland, Wayne Parrish, J.B. Hamlin, Dwight Pape and the employees of United State Bank.

    An expression of sympathy in memory of Freddie Ladwig may be left to the Knox County Ambulance or the Knox County Relay 4 Life. A memorial may be left at or mailed to the Doss Funeral Home 208 N. 4th Street, Edina, Missouri 63537.
