    Eva Mae McCarty, 88, of Hurdland, Missouri, passed away Thursday, July 22, 2010, at Oak Grove, Missouri.

    Eva was born on October 19, 1921, in Hoopston, Illinois, the daughter of James Clyde and Lottie Mae Dennis Dent.

    She moved to Missouri in 1922 and attended the Knox City Schools in Knox City, Missouri and Nursing School in Kirksville, Missouri.

    On May 22, 1939, in Memphis, Missouri, Eva married Ivan McCarty.

    They moved to Hurdland in 1972 and she worked as a nurse in Kirksville, Missouri and also was employed at the Glove Factory in Edina, Missouri. Eva and her husband were caretakers at the Baring Country Club, owned a second hand store and a craft store in Hurdland, Missouri for several years. In 2009 she moved to Blue Springs, Missouri to be near her brother Richard.

    Eva enjoyed painting, making dolls and crafts, gardening and genealogy but most of all she loved the time spent with family and friends.

    She is survived by four foster children including Marilyn and her husband Arne Dressler of Costa Rica; four brothers, Ernest Dent of Macon, Missouri, Clyde William Dent of San Antonio, Texas, Richard and his wife Charlotte Dent of Blue Springs, Missouri and Donald and his wife Shelby Dent of Jefferson City, Missouri; a sister, Wyanita Nall of Camp Point, Illinois; a brother-in-law, Red McCarty of Hurdland, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Elsie McCarty Mayer of Hurdland, Missouri; a grandson, Kris and his wife Kerra McCarty of Hurdland, Missouri; five great grandchildren, Tiffany McCarty-Womack, Nicholas, Serena, Alana and Joseph McCarty; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

    Eva was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lottie Dent; a brother, Robert Dent and a sister, Mary Regnos.

    A memorial service will be Sunday, July 25, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.

    The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. on Sunday until service time at the funeral home in Edina, Missouri.
