    Dorothy O'Connor, 92, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2008, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa. She had lived at Beaverdale Estates Retirement Residence for the past three years.

    Dorothy was born on September 17, 1915, in Edina, Missouri, the daughter of William and Stella McAtee Kriegshauser.

    A native of Edina, Missouri, Dorothy attended the Chillicothe Business College before moving to Kansas City, Missouri. She married Richard "Dick" O'Conner on December 26, 1938 in Edina, Missouri. The couple was married for 53 years before Richard died in 1992. Prior to settling in Des Moines in 1963, they lived in Kansas City, Creston, Iowa, Oskaloosa, Iowa, West Des Moines and Sioux City, Iowa.

    She worked for many years as the children's hostess for the Bishop's Buffet Cafeteria in the Merle Hay Plaza Des Moines. She also was active for several years as a volunteer at Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston, Iowa.

    Dorothy is survived by three sons: James and his wife Jackie O'Connor of Valley, Nebraska; John "Jack" and his wife Cathy of Des Moines, Iowa; and Tom and his wife Karen O'Connor of Omaha, Nebraska; 16 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. She also is survived by her brother Carl and his wife Mary Kriegshauser of Edina, Missouri; and a sister-in-law, Mary Lou Kriegshauser of Edina, Missouri; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

    In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, William and Stella Kreigshauser; her daughter, Eileen, who passed away in 1946 at the age of three; two brothers, Arthur Kriegshauser and Paul Kriegshauser; and a sister, Marie Lahman.

    Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2008at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Des Moines, Iowas.

    Visitation will be from 9 to 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, prior to the service, where the family will receive friends and say prayers at Iles Grandview Park Funeral Home.

    Graveside services will be at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at the St. Josephs New Catholic Cemetery, Edina, Missouri. Officiating will be Father Bill Kottenstette.
