    Doris Gale Ammons, 83, of Edina, Missouri, passed away Friday, December 07, 2012, at the Knox County Nursing Home in Edina, Missouri.

    Doris was born on December 28, 1928, in Knox City, Missouri, the daughter of Lindsey Russell and Gail Kennedy Miller.

    She was raised in Knox City and graduated from the Knox City High School in the Class of 1946.

    In Edina, Missouri Doris married Billie Max Ammons and to this union three boys were born.

    Doris and Billie moved to the Colony area to raise their children and Doris returned to Knox City, Missouri. She worked for Motorola in Quincy, Illinois, at the Gibson Hospital in Edina, in the kitchen at the Knox County High School and retired from the Knox County Nursing Home in 2012 with more than 24 years.

    She attended the Knox City Christian Church and enjoyed latch hooking, reading, and watching Dr. Phil.

    Doris is survived by three sons, Terry Ammons of Con Con, Chile, Harry and his wife Elizabeth Ammons of Midland, Texas and Jerry Ammons of Edina, Missouri; four grandchildren, Michelle Ammons of Midland, Texas, Melissa Ammons of Hurdland, Missouri, LaMayra and her husband Jeremy Hicks of Knox City, Missouri and Kirk Ammons of Milan, Missouri; two great grandchildren, Jaydin Hicks of Knox City, Missouri and Payton Bowen of Hurdland, Missouri; along with a host of neighbors and friends.

    Doris was preceded in death by her parents Lindsey and Gail Miller; and a brother, William Russell Miller in 1972.

    A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri with the family receiving friends on Tuesday, from 5:00 until service time, at the funeral home.                        .

    Supporting her wishes her body will be cremated and interred with her parents in Knox City Cemetery in Knox City, Missouri.

    In memory of Doris Ammons a memorial may be left to the American Diabetes Association. A memorial may be left at or mailed to the Doss Funeral Home 208 N. 4th Street, Edina, Missouri 63537.
