Catherine Ann Strickler

    Catherine Ann “Cack” Cornelius Strickler, 78, of Edina, Missouri, passed peacefully with family, on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, in Olathe, Kansas.

    On November 9, 1932 at Quincy, Illinois, she was born the only daughter of Francis Duncan and Mildred Hayes Cornelius.

    “Cack”, as she was known by her many friends, graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in the Class of 1950 and the University of Missouri with the Class of 1954, with a Bachelor of Arts in Home Economics, where she was a member of the Phi Upsilon Omicron, the National Honor Society of the School of Home Economics, and Gamma Sigma Delta, the honor society of the School of Agriculture.

    She was married June 12, 1956 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edina, Missouri, by Father Terrance Mullins, to David Wm. Strickler.  They are the parents of four sons: John Francis (Olathe, KS), David William Jr.  and wife Chari (Edina), Stephen Andrew and wife Terri (St. Charles, MO) and William Harold  and wife Tina (Phoenix, AZ), and one daughter Anne Michele Mascaux and husband Pascal (Olathe, KS).

    Cack had served as president of the St. Anne’s Altar Society of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and president of Lambda Rho, a Federated Club. She had been Secretary for the Knox County Board of Jail Visitors, and was treasurer of the St. Joseph Catholic Home and School Association.  She had been a Den Mother and a Girl Scout leader, and a member of the Knox County VFW Auxiliary. She was also on the Board of Directors of the Citizens Bank of Edina for many years and was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic School Board and the Parish Council.  She was also a licensed Pit Crew of Sports Car Club of America. For many years she ran the Strickler Insurance Agency out of her home.

    She loved reading, photography, family activities, playing bridge, bird-watching and collecting.

    Cack is survived by her children and grandchildren: Paul Rene’ Stuart and Henry John David Mascaux (sons of Anne & Pascal Mascaux), Lauren Anne Strickler (daughter of John), and Sarah Louise, Alison Catherine and Marianne Nicole Strickler (daughters of Steve & Terri Strickler).

    A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, July 2, 2011, at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edina, Missouri.

    Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2011, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri. A Christian Prayer Service will be at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

    Burial will be in the St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery in Edina, Missouri.

    Father Mike Penn & Father Joseph Hoi will officiate and Deacon Ken Berry will assist. Pallbearers will be John Strickler, David Strickler, Steve Strickler, Bill Strickler, Pascal Mascaux, Paul Mascaux and Henry Mascaux. Honorary Bearers will be Bruce Normile, Dud Gillaspie, Cole Campbell, Tom Deveny, Larry Kelly, Ted Hilgeford, Paul Sigman, Bill Eyman, Carl Kriegshauser, Randy Redding, Dr. David Hinds and Jim Cornelius.

    An expression of sympathy in memory of Cack Strickler may be left to the St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund or the Knox County Relay for Life or the donors’ choice.  A memorial may be left at or mailed to the Doss Funeral Home 208 N. 4th Street, Edina, Missouri 63537.
