Cecilia Margaret Sharp, 72, of Edina, Missouri, passed away Monday, October 27, 2008, at her residence in Edina, Missouri.
She was born in Kirksville, Missouri, on August 15, 1936, the daughter of Joseph Thomas and Stella Frances Cody Farley.
Cecilia was raised near Adair, Missouri and attended the Garden Grove Rural School, north of Adair and graduated from the Brashear High School in the Class of 1954.
On November 17, 1956, in Adair, Missouri, Cecilia married Paul Edward Sharp.
Cecilia and Paul moved to the farm west of Edina, Missouri and were members of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. She worked many years with the Knox County Nursing Home, Schempps Cafe, D&D Cafe, and the Sale Barn through out the years.
She enjoyed bowling, quilting, crossword puzzles and riding around Edina and the surrounding area with Paul but most of all she loved the time spent with family.
Cecilia is survived by her husband, Paul Sharp of Edina, Missouri; a son Paul Dean and his wife Cheri Sharp of Kirksville, Missouri; a daughter, Frances Ann and her husband Jerry Holman of Edina, Missouri; a sister, Roberta Frances and her husband Larry Ward of Alpha, Illinois; six grandchildren, Melissa and her husband Ron Tennyson of Kirksville, Missouri, Sarah Burkhardt of Kirksville, Missouri, Angie and her husband Duane Miller of Columbia, Missouri, Michael Sharp of Kirksville, Missouri Joey Sharp of the Home in Kirksville, Missouri and Brandon Holman of Edina, Missouri; three great grandchildren, Lacey Tennyson of Kirksville, Missouri and Brett and Hanna Miller both of Columbia, Missouri; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Brenda Kay Burkhardt in 1997; a granddaughter, Savanna Jo Sharp in 1983; a sister, Beatrice Phelps in 1995; and a brother, Joseph Thomas "Junior" Farley Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, October 30, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edina, Missouri.
Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2008, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri. A Christian Prayer Service will be at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening.
Father Bill Kottenstette will officiate and music will be provided by Nancy Reardon and Brenton Karhoff. Pall Bearers will be Terry "Red" Callahan, Joe Sharp, Larry Barnes, Scott Ward, Mike Phelps and Mike Fox along with Honorary Bearers Duane Miller, Jerome Kriegshauser, Donnie Crim and Mike Sharp.
