Carol Rae Pemberton, 72, of Eldon, Missouri passed away, Thursday, March 21, 2013, at her residence in Eldon, Missouri.
Carol was born on December 9, 1940, in Rural Knox County, Missouri, near Knox City, Missouri.
She attended Island Rural School, northeast of Knox City, Missouri, before graduating from the Knox City School, graduating in the class of 1958 as Valedictorian.
On June 26, 1963 in Salem, Missouri, Carol married Harold Hawkins and to this union three children were born.
On December 24, 1980, in Eldon, Missouri, she married Oscar Pemberton and he preceded her in death on January 25, 2011.
She owned and operated the Coiffeur Salon in Eldon, Missouri for more than 17 years. In 1973 she began working for the Black Bear Restaurant at Tan Tara Resort in Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, retiring in 2011.
Carol was a member of the Colony Methodist Church, Colony Chapter #543 Order of Eastern Star both of Colony, Missouri. She was an excellent seamstress and made gifts for family and friends. She dearly loved her family.
She is survived by two sons, Michael Troy and Paul Wayne and his wife Jamie Hawkins both of Eldon, Missouri; daughter, Kathy Jo Hawkins of Odessa, Missouri; seven brothers and sisters, Byron Ewalt of Edina, Missouri, Roberta Agee of O’Fallon, Missouri, Garland and his wife Betty Ewalt of Mesa, Arizona, Roy and his wife Mary Lois Ewalt of Galesburg, Illinois, Jewel See of Rutledge, Missouri, Alice and her husband Roger Gipson of Edina, Missouri, and Albert and his wife Delores Ewalt of Kahoka, Missouri; four grandchildren, Ashley Hawkins and Megan Stockdoll of Odessa, Missouri, Jacob Hawkins and Sophia Hawkins of Eldon, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Barbara Ewalt of Edina, Missouri; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Nellie Rae Ewalt; two brothers, John Arthur Ewalt on June 4, 2008 and Charles William Ewalt on April 5, 2011; a sister, Anna Louise Ewalt on April 1, 1933; a sister-in-law, Euvanah Ewalt on April 10, 2010; and two brothers-in-law, Ralph Agee on February 8, 2000 and Bill See on July 1, 2007.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013, at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri, with the family receiving friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
Pastor Sam Smith will officiate along with Ron Trout and Paul Wayne Hawkins. Music will be provided by Jaston Boone. Honorary Bearers will be her nephews, Lynn Ewalt, Clay See, Ed See, Alan See, Ralph Agee, Fred Carter Ewalt, Tony Ewalt, Johann Ewalt, Franz Ewalt, George Ewalt and Bradley Ewalt.
