Carl R. Kingsley


Carl Web_0.jpg     Carl Raymond Kingsley, 58, of Edina, Missouri, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2009, at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.

    Carl was born on January 3, 1951 in Edina, Missouri, the son of Raymond Ray and Charlene Ona Shumate Kingsley.

    He was raised in Edina, Missouri and attended the Edina Elementary School and graduated from the Knox County High School in the Class of 1969. He began his career with I.G.A. Grocery Store and in 1979 they were purchased by C.&R. Market, whom he continued to work in Edina, Milan, La Plata and was currently the Meat Department Manager with the store in Shelbina, Missouri.

    Carl followed the St. Louis Cardinals, enjoyed fishing, traveling out west, visiting with friends but he loved spending time with his family and watching his grandsons play baseball and football. Carl was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

    On June 26, 1976, in Edina,  Missouri, Carl married Nelda Fern Clary and they celebrated life together.

    He is survived by his wife, Nelda Kingsley of Edina, Missouri; two sons, Dennis and his wife Elizabeth Kingsley of Bowling Green, Missouri and Mike and his wife Tracy Kingsley of Louisiana, Missouri; a daughter, Kathy and her husband Jon Davis of Edina, Missouri; a brother, Rick and his wife Dora Kingsley of Edina, Missouri; three sisters, Shirley Kingsley of Edina, Missouri, Mary and her husband Melvin Baker of Etowah, Tennessee and Carol Kingsley of Edina, Missouri; a brother-in-law, Mike and his wife Martha K. Miller of Edina, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Linda and her husband Bill Lint of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; five grandchildren, Nathan and Marisa Kingsley and Brandee, Ryan and Matt Davis; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of neighbors and friends.

    Carl was preceded in death by his parents parents, Raymond and Ona Kingsley.

    Funeral Services will be Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.

    Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2009, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

    Burial will be in the Linville Cemetery in Edina, Missouri.

    Pastor Doug Wilson will officiate  and Casket Bearers will be Terry Shumate, Bill Lint, Nick Miller, Rick Winter, Charles "C.E." McCarty and Joe Pflum along with Honorary Bearers Kenny Dooley, Randy Parton, Dickie Davis, Junior Crabtree, Richard and Mary Scarff.
