    Billy Calvin Shubert, 82, of Edina, Missouri, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2012, at the Knox County Nursing Home in Edina, Missouri.

    He was born in Edina, Missouri, on December 24, 1929, the son of Walter, Jr. and Margaret Anna Coslett Shubert.

    Bill attended Edina Elementary and graduated from the Edina High School in the Class of 1947.

    He served his country in the United States Army.  He worked for McSorley Rock Quary, R.L. Cahalan Oil Company, as a salesman for Fessler Motors and Dromey Motors in Edina, Missouri and drove a truck for Zuspann Trucking and Oldfather Trucking for a number of years before his retirement.

    On February 9, 1957, in Edina, Missouri, Bill married Elizabeth Faye “Libby” Goodwin and they made their home in Edina, Missouri. They purchased a home on North Fourth Street in 1961 where they raised their family.

    He was a member of the Knox City American Legion Post and belonged to the Edina Masonic Lodge where he served a number of years as secretary.

    Bill was survived by two sons, Jimmy Shubert of Edina, Missouri and Randy and his wife Pam Shubert of Maywood, Missouri; a daughter, Sharon Shubert of Edina, Missouri; three brothers, Victor Shubert of Hannibal, Missouri, Francis “Frank” Shubert of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Jerry Shubert of Taylor, Missouri; three sisters, Irene Nichols of Edina, Missouri, Janice and her husband Kim Smith of Edina, Missouri and Jane and her husband Lanny Bowen of Kirksville, Missouri; three grandchildren, Brandon Shubert of Kirksville, Missouri, Jordan Shubert of Columbia, Missouri and Caleb Shubert of Edina, Missouri; a great granddaughter, Olivia Shubert of Columbia, Missouri; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

    Bill was preceded by his parents, Walter and Margaret Shubert; wife, Libby Shurbert on April 2, 2008; a brother, James Ray Shubert in infancy; a sister, Mary Louise Schroeder on January 19, 2009; and a brother-in-law, Dale Nichols.

    Funeral services will be Sunday, May 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.

   Visitation will be after 10:00 a.m., Sunday, May 20, 2012, with the family receiving friends from 12:00 noon until service time at the funeral home in Edina, Missouri.

    Burial, with Military Graveside Honors, will be in the Linville Cemetery in Edina, Missouri.

    Pastor John Bode will officiate and Casket Bearers will be Harry Lee Oldfather, Ron Stansberry, Mike Peters, Dud Gillaspy, Wendell Kurtz and Kim Smith, along with Honorary Bearers, Stanley Sharp, Don Woodward, Lawrence Dixson, Byron Ewalt and Allen Davidson.

    An expression of sympathy in memory of Bill Shubert may be made to the Linville Cemetery Association. A memorial may be left at or mailed to the Doss Funeral Home 208 N. 4th Street, Edina, Missouri, 63537.
