    Betty Jo Golden, 77, of Baring, Missouri, passed away Thursday, June 24, 2010 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.

    Betty Jo was born on September 14, 1932, in Baring, Missouri, the daughter of Arthur and Mary Helen Norton Barnes.

    She received her education in the Baring Elementary and High Schools graduating in the class of 1950.

    On October 26, 1950, in Memphis, Missouri, Betty Jo married Manley “Junior” Golden and they made their home near Millport, Missouri. They moved several times while farming in Edina, Baring, and Colony before moving to the farm west of Baring, Missouri.

    Betty Jo was a member of the Baring Community Church, serving as the Secretary-Treasurer for many years. She was a member of the Greensburg #258 then Colony Order of Eastern Star Chapter #543 and had received her 50 year pin in 2008. She was also a member of the Baring Country Club and was serving as a board member of the Knox County Water District.

    Betty Jo is survived by a son, Steve and his wife Patsy Golden of Edina, Missouri; two daughters, Shirlene and her husband Ray Chancellor of Rutledge, Missouri and Sheila and her husband Ronnie Truitt of  Kirksville, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Maxine Golden and Anita Golden; eight grandchildren, Billy Golden, Robin Golden, Charla Golden, Keara Golden, Sue and her husband Ryan Anderson, John Chancellor, Cecil and Ian Truitt; two great grandchildren, Tristan Little and Kendal Anderson; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

    Betty Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Golden in 1988; her parents, Arthur and Mary Barnes and a grandson, Jeffrey Chancellor.

    Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 26, 2010, at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.

    Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m., Friday, June 25, 2010, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Edina, Missouri.

    Burial will be in the Greensburg Cemetery at Greensburg, Missouri.

    Reverend John Davison will officiate and music will be provided by Harold Forbis, Twilla Jones and Linda Davenport. Casket Bearers will be Gary Mallett, Gary Mayer, Tom Dye, Bucky Bowen, Leon James and Gary Downing.
