Bonnie Jean Hettinger, 77, of Knox City, Missouri, passed away Friday, April 13, 2012 at the LaBelle Manor Care Center in LaBelle, Missouri.
Bonnie was born on May 27, 1934, in Baring, Missouri, the daughter of James Harley and Nellie Marie Kiesow Dailing.
She attended Dailing Rural School near Baring, Missouri, and Baring Elementary and High Schools before graduating from the Edina High School in the Class of 1951.
On November 30, 1951, in Monticello, Missouri, Bonnie married Ronald Hettinger.
After their marriage they moved to the farm near Knox City, Missouri where they made their home. She loved the farm and enjoyed gardening, her flowers, sports and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Fan.
Bonnie is survived by two daughters, Sharon Hettinger and her dear friend Bert of Edina, Missouri and Melinda Hettinger of Kirksville, Missouri; four sisters-in-law, Minnie McKay of Knox City, Missouri, Sharon Dailing and Deloris “Dude” Willier both of Edina, Missouri and JoAnn Echternacht of Macon, Missouri; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Harley and Nellie Dailing; husband; Ronald Hettinger; two brothers, Joseph J. “Buck” Dailing and George Dailing.
Funeral Services will be Monday, April 16, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.
Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2012, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Knox City Cemetery in Knox City, Missouri.
Pastor Dewayne Wellborn and Pastor Sandy Browning will officiate and music will be provided by Marsha Burton. Casket Bearers will be Ben McKay, Douglas Homrighausen, Dickie Dailing, Robbie Dailing, Roger Waibel, Tracy Hettinger and Jim Hinkle.
An expression of sympathy in memory of Bonnie Hettinger may be left to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Knox City Cemetery Association. A memorial may be left at or mailed to the Doss Funeral Home 208 N. 4th Street, Edina, Missouri.
