    Robert Benjamin “Bob” Cammon, 96, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2010 in Tacoma, Washington. 

    He was born April 29, 1914 in Washington State the son of Helmer “Oscar” and Betsey Johnson Cammon.

    Bob graduated from Lincoln High School in 1931 and from Washington State University in 1937, with a degree in mechanical engineering.  He had a brilliant 35-year career with General Electric Company based in Saint Louis and traveled all over North America working on turbine engines. 

    Bob married Catherine “Kitty” Early on April 7, 1949, in Baring, Missouri and she preceded him in death on August 3, 1998.

    Bob and Kitty met while staying in the same boarding house in St. Louis, Missouri. She worked as a nurse and he as an engineer. In the fifties and sixties they sailed from St. Lois, Missouri back to Washington via the Panama Canal, on a sail boat that Bob built.

    Since 1972, he retired to homes near Baring, Missouri, and on Anderson Island, Washington.

 Bob attended the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Baring, Missouri and was a member of the engineering society, Tau Beta Pi.

    Bob is survived by several nieces and nephews including, Joe and his wife Joyce Delaney, Katie Delaney and Maggie Delaney all of Baring, Missouri; great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Betsey Cammon; his wife, Kitty Cammon; a sister, Anna Cammon and two brothers, Roger and Russell Cammon.

    Funeral services will be Saturday, October 9, 2010, at 2:00 p.m., at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.

    Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home in Edina, Missouri.

    Burial will be in the St. Aloysius Cemetery in Baring, Missouri.

    Father Joseph Hoi will officiate and casket bearers will be family and friends.

    An expression of sympathy in memory of Bob Cammon may be left to the Knox County Nutrition Site or the Library. A memorial may be left at or mailed to the Doss Funeral Home 208 N. 4th Street, Edina, Missouri 63537.
