    Billie F. Barnes, 78, of Auxvasse, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at the Audrain Medical Center in Mexico, Missouri.

    He was born on June 16, 1933 in Knox County, Missouri, the son of William and Pearl Weaver Barnes.

    Billie attended the Oklahoma Rural School, south of Edina, Missouri. After school he worked with his father on their farm and also helped other farmers in the area. He worked for a number of years at Mid-America Dairy, McGraws and Producers Creamery all of Kirksville, Missouri. He worked for almost ten years as a meat cutter for Osborn’s Locker in Brashear, Missouri before retiring.

    On January 17, 1981, at the First Baptist Church in Hurdland, Missouri, where he was a member, Billie married Deloris Hardwick.

    Billie is survived by his wife, Deloris of the home; three daughters, Amy and her husband Dennis McClanahan of Kirksville, Missouri, Amber and her husband Cliff Corbett of Kirksville, Missouri and Carol and her husband Mike Shirley of Auxvasse, Missouri; ten grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two sisters, Eva Hatfield of Knox City, Missouri and Velma Dabney of Quincy, Illinois; along with several nieces, nephew, cousins and a host of friends.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Pearl Barnes; a daughter, Nancy Casper; three sisters, Irene Spray, Mable Cullers and Marie Barnes; two brothers, Raymond Barnes and William Barnes in infancy.

    Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 12, 2011, at the First Baptist Church in Hurdland, Missouri.

    Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 11, 2011, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.

    Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Hurdland, Missouri.

    Brother Robert Shobe will officiate and music will be provided by Linda Baker, Dale and Linda Laske, Ketha Sykes and Susie Shobe. Casket Bearers will be Michael Shirley, Vincent Casper, Joe Casper, Gene Spray, Dalton McClanahan and Rex Sykes along with Honorary Bearers Vic Peterson, Dale Laske, Harold Vansickle, Chris Harrison and Robert Harrison.

    An expression of sympathy in memory of Billie Barnes may be left to the American Heart Association. A memorial may be left at or mailed to the Doss Funeral Home 208 N. 4th Street, Edina, Missouri 63537.
